SUMMER STAFF POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Faith Formation Leader ($415/week)

  • This position spends each day surrounded by youth, faith, and the outdoors, providing a safe atmosphere where youth find unique opportunities to grow in faith and experience God’s love through community and creation.
  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Leads faith formation for campers in cabins and on day camps, with duties including: 

Programmatic Duties

  • Travel as part of a Day Camp Team to lead faith formation at a church off-site 
  • Lead faith formation in a small group-cabin setting with youth ages K-12 grade, staying in the cabin with the campers and guiding them through programming
  • Be the main caretaker for your cabin or day camp group each week

General Duties

  • Model Christian faith formation for campers through leading Bible studies, devotionals, and worships
  • Model teamwork and group development through leading games, challenge course activities, and educational break-out sessions
  • Facilitate conversation, fun, and community connection during times like meals and transitions.
  • Assist in all areas of the summer program as needed including fulfilling a support staff role if necessary
    • Expect to be on various on-site and day camp programs throughout the summer, alternating according to the needs of programming. Expect to spend around half of the summer on day camps
    • **We can try to honor a request to only be on Day Camps, but not a request to be only onsite**

Requirements

  • Must be 18(+) years of age 
  • Have completed 1 year of college or equivalent experience beyond High School

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR ($430/week)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Supervises and supports all aspects of summer programming with special attention to centralized “Classic Camp” (i.e., Explorers, Seekers, Leapers, Witnesses, Blazers, Proclaimers), including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Assign staff member activity roles weekly via the GROID
  • Lead daily staff meetings
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Help with camper registration/check-in
  • Handle parent communication in collaboration with the Program Director
  • Communicate with Support Staff and Year Round Staff about needs for programming items
  • Address concerns with campers brought up by Faith Formation Leaders in coordination with Year Round Staff
  • Address staff conflicts in collaboration with Program Director
  • Manage camper care by making phone calls to home, assisting Faith Formation Leaders to treat homesickness
  • Handle medical emergencies in collaboration w/PD and Health Care Manager

Programmatic Duties

  • Supervise, check in with, and communicate with FFLs onsite daily

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Supervises and supports all aspects of the Specialty weekly programming (Wet & Wild, Xtreme, Family Camp, Women’s Week, other specialty programs/trips), including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Help with camper registration/check-in
  • Handle parent communication in collaboration with the Program Director
  • Communicate with Support Staff and Year Round Staff about needs for programming items

**This position will spend the duration of this summer off-site in Day Camp congregations.**

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Supervises and supports all aspects of day camp programming, including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Lead daily camper registration/check-in and check-out
  • Communicate needs and plans with congregations ahead of day camp weeks
  • Plan and coordinate schedules and activities with Day Camp contacts within congregations.
  • Drive team to and from congregations and host locations throughout the week
  • Handle parent communication in collaboration with the Program Director
  • Communicate with Support Staff and Year Round Staff about needs for programming items
  • Manage camper care by making calls to home if necessary
  • Handle medical emergencies in collaboration congregation contact person
  • Coordinate off time plans/activities for FFL team on program (including assisting with onsite evening programming when necessary)

Programmatic Duties

  • Provide leadership for Day Camp staffing teams including staff supervision and being a mentor to staff and campers within the program.
  • Plan daily schedule in cooperation with FFL team on program
  • Communicate with FFLs on program

WATERFRONT COORDINATOR ($425/WEEK)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Supervises and supports all onsite activities at the waterfront, with duties including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Maintain a clean and safe waterfront environment including daily beach cleaning, daily inventory of the boathouse, and inspection of waterfront equipment
  • Report the status of waterfront equipment to the Executive Director
  • Coordinate with Year-Round Staff regarding in-services for lifeguards throughout the summer
  • Handle medical emergencies at the waterfront in collaboration with Health Care Manager and lifeguard team

Programmatic Duties

  • Oversee all recreational activities such as swimming, paddle boarding, and supervising Lifeguards assigned to the waterfront
  • Assist in leading weekly H2Olympics with Games and Activities Coordinator
  • Coordinate all other waterfront related activities

HEALTHCARE COORDINATOR ($425/WEEK)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Oversees all health care needs within the summer program, with duties including:

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Maintain inventory medical supplies and daily/weekly stocking of first aid kits, and medical logs
  • Health care administrative duties such as filing and organizing camper and staff health forms and medical information
  • Work with Program Director to make sure health care is being provided in alignment with ACA guidelines
  • Handle all medical emergencies in collaboration summer staff and Program Director

Programmatic Duties

  • Care for ill or injured staff and/or campers
  • Administer medications as directed by parents/guardians/camper physicians
  • Assist summer staff with handling camper homesickness

ARTS AND CRAFTS COORDINATOR ($425/WEEK)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Oversees all arts and crafts activities within the daily summer program and oversees the camp store, with duties including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Oversee supply inventories for craft activities, communicating any resupply needs with the Program Director
  • Oversee the organization and inventory of the Summer Camp Store including daily and weekly inventory and communicate any resupply needs with the Program Director and office manager

Programmatic Duties

  • Plan and coordinate daily arts and crafts activities appropriate for different age groups of summer campers
  • Oversee cleaning and organization of arts and crafts space (lower chapel)
  • Facilitate and oversee weekly Tie-dye for campers

  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Organize the Nature Center and care for Luther Crest’s resident Nature Room equipment

Programmatic Duties

  • Lead environmental-focused programmed activities including specific Environmental education activities for each age group
  • Oversee Nature Center for activity time, devotions, and all other times it’s in use
  • Encourage and uplift environmental stewardship in all aspects of programming
  • Assist Trail Shack/Ropes Coordinator with high ropes, campouts, and cookouts as needed

TRAIL SHACK/HIGH ROPES COORDINATOR ($425/WEEK)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Oversees cookouts, campouts, travel packing, and the high ropes challenge course, with duties including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Organize the Trail Shack and high ropes hut and care for Luther Crest’s camping and ropes equipment

Programmatic Duties

  • Oversee supply preparations for campout/cook-out meals
  • Oversee all needs for overnight camping including prepping equipment and sites, training and support of staff, clean up and maintenance, and all other needs as they arise
  • Work in collaboration with Specialty Coordinator to oversee needs of river trips and Xtreme camping trips
  • Help set up the high ropes course and oversee the implementation of high ropes in collaboration with the Program Director

General Duties

**If this position is filled by a current Seminary Student, this position will also assume the role of Summer Chaplain.**

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Plans and oversees all onsite worships and Bible Dive preparation, with duties including: 

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Organize and prepare all Bible study materials and oversee Bible study and worship supply inventories, communicating resupply needs to Program Director

Programmatic Duties

  • Coordinate and plan daily worship experiences for youth and adults
  • Oversee and assist in the planning of specialty worships such as campout worships, opening and closing worships, and Women’s Week worships
  • Assign roles for worship experiences among the summer staff
  • Set up tech systems for worship spaces (will receive training)

  • Assist in posting camp activities online to an online audience in collaboration with Communications and Events Director
  • Monitor and manage the Luther Crest Bunk1 platform, ensuring content is taken and uploaded in collaboration with Program Director
  • Print, fold, and distribute camper mail in collaboration with Registrar

Programmatic Duties

  • Coordinate with Community Coordinatore to take photos and videos of camp programming
  • Create a weekly video of photos and videos of programming

Sr. High Coordinator ($430/WEEK)

  • Responsible directly to the Program Director. Supervises and supports all aspects of the Sr. High weekly programming (Keepers, Blazers, Proclaimers), including:

  • Assist in leading staff training in collaboration with Program Director
  • Be a Lifegroup leader for a group of FFLs throughout the summer
  • Help with camper registration/check-in
  • Handle parent communication in collaboration with the Program Director

Assistant Cook (Start date: negotiable) ($415/WEEK OR $16/HOUR)

  • Responsible directly to Food Service Manager. Assist with meals, snacks, and kitchen responsibilities, with duties including:

  • Assist with meal preparation during Luther Crest’s staff training weeks and camper weeks throughout the summer
  • Work with Luther Crest’s Food Service Manager and Hospitality Manager to divide out kitchen shifts and meal responsibilities
  • Fill in in the dish room when needed

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen (preferred)
  • Food Service or Safe Serve certifications or willingness to get them (preferred)

SITE AND FACILITIES MANAGER ($425/WEEK OR CAN BE NEGOTIATED)

  • Responsible directly to Executive Director. Assist and coordinate the care and maintenance of the site and facilities, with duties including:

General Duties

  • Care and maintain camp equipment
  • Maintain the organization of Maintenance Sheds
  • Assist in all areas of the summer program if needed and/or stay in a cabin as needed

Requirements

  • Must be 18(+) years of age
  • A valid Driver's License (required)
  • Knowledge of camping equipment and experience driving with and backing various trailers (preferred)
  • Knowledge of boat operations (preferred) 
  • Can lift at least 100lbs
  • General knowledge of maintenance

ONSITE DAY CAMP FAITH FORMATION LEADER (Start date: negotiable) ($400/WEEK)

  • Wash dishes during Luther Crest’s staff training weeks and camper weeks throughout the summer
  • Work with Luther Crest’s Food Service Manager and Hospitality Manager to divide out shifts and responsibilities
  • Take out the kitchen garbage and recycling
  • Assist the Food Service Manager with random kitchen tasks

  • Be able to stand up for at least 1 hour at a time
